From Protected Forests to Your Home

We consider everything we do on a measuring stick of sustainability. We choose methods that provide you with the very best in sustainable bedding, while making decisions to reduce our carbon footprint. The unique closed loop process makes TENCEL™+Plus Lyocell the fiber of the future since the non-toxic solvent used is recycled by almost 100% in the closed loop process. This special process received the "European Award for the Environment" from the European Union.

We sustainably source our proprietary fiber from FSC Forestry Stewardship Council and PEFC Programmed for the Endorsement of Forest Certification. Only responsible farming techniques are used to grow and maintain efficient fiber production. There is only one nontoxic solvent used to convert the botanical pulp to TENCEL™+Plus Lyocell fiber. 99.6% of the solvent used is then recovered and re-used over and over again to create a truly sustainable model of production. This is a huge breakthrough, as other production methods such as Viscose Rayon Bamboo use 13 toxic chemicals in their process.

Nearly 100% of the solvent is recovered and the remaining emissions are broken down in biological water treatment plants. 40% of the botanical trees become the pulp we use to create our TENCEL™+Plus Lyocell fibers. 20% of the remaining tree is used in the production of vinegar and sweeteners. The remaining wood allows our fiber factory to be energy efficient as the wood is burned and converted to electricity. TENCEL™+Plus Lyocell saves hundreds of gallons of water with each fiber production, when compared to other natural fibers. This attention to the water limitations of our planet shows even further effort to conserve our shared environment. Since the trees grow in protected forests, not farms, no pesticides or irrigation is used. The only thing botanical trees need to survive is sunshine and rain.

It is not enough to use organic fibers to manufacture bedding, it is the sustainable practices and decisions that come after the fibers are grown that is as important, if not more important to truly sustain our planet. Our manufacturing plants are all Oeko-Tex Certified and use the very best practices to ensure our cotton is grown without harm to anyone, while not restricting the farms that can grow it. Living Fresh products are certified for both commercial and residential performance as well as fiber verification. This is a green story you can trust and believe in. It is the responsibility of large companies, like us, to make wise production and manufacturing choices to guarantee long-term sustainability of our natural resources and the environment and create a healthier product.
